DRIMS in Kaifeng

    DRIMS was experienced in Kai Feng – China when Dr. Xue Kai went back home for the Spring Festival in 2019. He calibrated 23 different brand and wheelbase cars using the latest automatic-calibration DRIMS and compared the IRI results of a 10 km long straight road. 

     The vehicle appearances are shown in the following. For each vehicle, the smartphone was fixed on the right side dashboard with different angle. The smartphone direction can be searched automatically.

    The road consists of asphalt and cement pavements. Because the asphalt parts were newly constructed, the IRI are small. On the other hand, the road condition for the cement pavements is not very good. The reference IRI were measured by a laser profiler as shown in the following.

    All vehicles resulted in almost the same IRI estimates. Also the differences in the drive speed do not practically affect the IRI even at the stop and start locations. The results will be given later.
